Having a repeatable system is vital when fulfilling multiple orders at a time so buyers receive their ordered cards. Below are some of our top suggestions to keep orders straight during fulfillment and after packing.
See here for our Recommended way to pack an untracked order for a white envelope.
Use the Packing Slip
The Packing Slip should always travel with your order. It can be customized with additional information to make it easier for you to assemble your shipment, and is the ideal reference for what should be in which order. With the packing slip, you can ensure all of these variables match what was ordered before packing:
- Condition
- Set Code and Number
- Quantities Ordered
- Foil/Art Type
One Person, One Package, One Workflow
This concept works best when practiced throughout your workflow, and is comprised of three smaller habits that serve as natural safety checks in packing more than one order. Those habits are:
-
Assign One Person to Pack at a Time
- If you have any sort of "assembly line" where multiple people can help at a time, always ensure that one person is packing and no one else. Multiple packers on the same "line' can lead to confusion when completing fulfillment.
-
Pack One Order at a Time
- Putting your orders into their final package should always happen one at a time. If tracking is involved, ensure that the name on the Packing Label matches the name on your packing slip before beginning the process.
-
Attach Postage/Tracking Immediately After Packing
- Do not let packed, blank envelopes sit in a stack. Mixing orders will make it difficult to attach proper postage, and any that require tracking run the risk of being labeled with the incorrect shipping label.
