Here are some tips to help avoid late delivery and other issues with packages you mail out:
-
Make sure to use sufficient postage when sending packages USPS First-Class Mail.
- Some packages will require an "extra ounce" of postage. See this article.
-
Avoid letter shipments showing up late
- drop off at a post office that is a regional hub
- try a different drop off location like a different blue mailbox
- Avoid late deliveries and damage to letters - don't mail packages from your house, prefer dropping letter packages in a blue mailbox
- Avoid having post office employees assess extra postage on letter shipments - use a blue mailbox rather than handing letters over to a post office employee
- Avoid tracked packages remaining in a "label created" state - when dropping off or having a tracked package picked up, ask the postal worker to scan it immediately, to avoid packages appearing as "label created" to the buyer when viewing tracking info
- Avoid jamming the sorting machine - When an order requires more than one team bag, use double-sided tape to keep the 2 team bags from overlapping and making the envelope too thick. Taping a single team bag order is not advisable as it can make the envelope more likely to jam the sorting machine when it goes around a corner
